The first step in accomplishing this transformation is to address the very design of the ego, this mysterious and sometimes frightening word which generates troubles, doubts and embarrassment. Some people seem to think that it would be better to get rid of it, while others attribute to it all the most unpleasant behaviors of human being such as arrogance, big headedness brashness, bravado, or cockiness. Others say that it has nothing to do with that, but they nonetheless agree that awakening, peace and joy can only be reached beyond the ego.
Whatever people think, confusion reigns and the question persist: what is the ego?
If we do not know what the ego is, if we continue to tolerate confusion and lack of clarity about the very nature of what it is to be a human being, then we will never have access to what is possible beyond it. It is an evidence that that which is undistinguished has us imprisoned, while that which is distinguished lets us be free.
