On Games

Considering life as a game creates a liberating context. The different games I create all have what I called an ‘at stake-ness’. And the way I play them depends on it. The more important the matter is and the more it concerns others and the world, the more the game is serious. I can stop playing Monopoly without great consequences. I cannot do the same if the life of someone is dependent on it. Therefore, a game can be very serious, with more or less important outcome and consequences. But serious does not mean significant or better than another because there is no intrinsic meaning in a game as I create them! In the same vein, losing the game does not mean the end of my hopes as there is no meaning in failing and it is not a measure of my worthlessness. At most, it can be an indication of capabilities to develop.
